Summer is a time for expansion, it’s all about the heart! It’s the time to let our energy soar to its maximum potential. It’s the most yang time of year when our energy is at its highest expression, a time of joy, love, laughter and compassion as we become aware of this energy at its fullest.
In yoga we focus on the heart centre physically with chest openers, back bends, and arm poses, and mental/emotionally with meditations such as Metta Bhvanna (Love & Kindness) and connection. We work more energetically with flows to get the circulation moving and sprits uplifted.
Meridians
The heart meridian runs from the arm pit all the way down the medial inside of the arm to the tip of the little finger.
The small intestine meridian runs from the outside of the little finger al the way up the outside of the arm at the medial side, over the shoulder blade up the neck and towards the cheek finishing in front of the earlobe.
